Taking food order
Standard
Using numbering system for numbering chairs. Effective coding system is numbering chairs facing the entrance is always numbered as seat No .1 then continue in a clockwise direction numbering 2, 3, 4...Always have numbering written, as colleague might serve on your behalf and he/she would immediately be able to identify which guest is having what order. Another method for numbering guest is to pick out a guest with distinguishing feature, this can be number 1 and then clockwise for the rest. From this point you can move around the table clockwise, first women then male and host/ess last (if known).
Procedures
When guest is ready, approach on the right hand side of first lady.
Mention special of the day and other promotional items (if any)
Start taking starter or appetizer; circle the corresponding seat number (for ladies only).
Using suggestive selling for appetizer, main course.
Always repeat the after the guest ordered.
Thank the guest after everything he/she ordered has been clarified
When taking food order always stand upright. Do not lean on tables and chairs. Listen carefully to each guest.
