Guidelines
• The Hotel considers that the health and safety of its employees, guests, clients and members of the public is of great importance.
• The Hotel, through management and training at all levels, has a responsibility to ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and prevention of injuries to all employees whilst at work. In accepting this responsibility it will provide information, instruction and training to all employees according to their duties and responsibilities as follows, and ensure that all employees are fully familiar with these procedures at all times.

1. General Health and Safety Training
(All hotel staff)
2. Housekeeping and Laundry Health and Safety Training
(All Housekeeping staff)
3. Recreation Facilities Health and Safety Training
(All Sports and Recreation staff)
4. Food & Beverage Health and Safety Training
(All Kitchen and F&B Service staff)
5. Technical Service Health and Safety Training
(All Engineering staff)
• The Training Manager will arrange health and safety training as follows:
• General health and safety training will be conducted once a year for all Senior and Middle Management and staff.
• Health and safety training, which is specific to certain departments, will be carried out for the Senior Management and Team Leaders in that department once a year.
• Casual staff will receive the same health and safety training as full-time employees. Department Heads will ensure that all casual staff working in their departments are included in all health and safety training activities.
• So that the trained knowledge and skills always remain fresh in the mind of the employees, the Supervisors should use the Daily Briefing at least once a month to revise the content of the health and safety training.
• It is recommended that the Department Head carries out spot-checks of his/her staff to make sure that the staff know the security procedures. S/he should report any training needs to the Supervisor, who will provide remedial training as necessary.
Recommendations
• Using in-house and external trainers, the Training Manager will arrange training, which will include as a minimum requirement the following topics:
1. General Health and Safety Training (All hotel staff)
• Control of substances hazardous to health
• Electrical safety
• Safe manual handling
• Handling mentally dangerous or drunk guests
• Infectious diseases amongst hotel staff
• CPR (all Middle Management)
• Basic first-aid (all Middle Management and selected staff)

2. Housekeeping and Laundry Health and Safety Training (All Housekeeping staff)
• Use and storage of dangerous substances
• Cleaning routines
• Safe equipment and working methods

3. Recreation Facilities Health and Safety Training (All Sports and Recreation staff)
• Procedures for Pool staff
• Maintenance of Pool equipment
• Spa procedures
• Sauna procedures
• Gymnasium
• CPR
• First-aid

4. Food & Beverage Health and Safety Training (All Kitchen and F&B Service staff)
• Food handling and storage procedures
• Kitchen equipment hygiene procedures
• Pest control
• Safe working methods
• Safe equipment use

5. Technical Service Health and Safety Training (All Engineering staff)
• Legionella control
• Evaporative cooling towers
• Plant / Equipment testing
• Monitoring temperatures
• Safe systems of work
• Cleaning routines
